During the TIK launch event I was fortunate to meet Christian Pointer. He’s an electronic engineer, programmer and hacker from Graz, Austria. He was very kind to help me with improving the stretch sensor. With the few parts I had with me he managed to increase the output range from the sensor to the Arduino dramaticly. […]

belt for measuring breath
My first attempt at building a breath measuring belt using the Merlin stretch sensor. I used this tutorial: http://itp.nyu.edu/physcomp/sensors/Reports/StretchSensor When I breath in and out you don’t see much changes in values. Not more then 20 which is kind of hard to work with. GRS electrodes experiment
First sketch of new electrodes for e-Pressed. Galvanic Skin Response sensor electrodes made less obtrusive, hopefully. See the full gallery on Posterous
Hardware integration
On the photograph you can see the 5 volt circuit. It houses two sensors and two buttons. At the workshop last Saturday I put together button circuit, if you press the white one it means it smells good, the brown one indicates it smells bad. This is of course just a functional setup, purely for […]
Building & talking
It was four weeks since the last workshop. Despite of the time span I didn’t have a lot of time to spend on the project but I was content with the research I’d done and was keen to show my findings to Anna Maria Cornelia. I also hoped to get at least one gas sensor […]
First sensor
Hmm, this afternoon at the lab was a bit frustrating. As a starter a lot went wrong with the purchase of the two AppliedSensor sensors and the temperature sensors. My order went wrong, twice. It was a national holiday on Thursday so I feared that the stuff wouldn’t be in by Saturday. But finally, at […]
Measuring gasses
I’ll have to make a choice of what gasses I want to measure. The government measures the following gasses at different locations in the Netherlands: SO2 Sulfur dioxide PM10 Particulate matter (PM) or fine particles NH3 Ammonia CO Carbon monoxide O3 Ozone NO NO2 Nitrogen Dioxide My choice will depend on the availability of the […]
Meeting @ Anja’s house
Meeting @ Anja’s house, 21-11-2008 from 12.00-17.00. Present: Anja, Barbara, Danielle. Most of our time we spend on clarifying our concept and writing it down. This is the final result: Goals – Visualize inner states – Create awareness – Promote interaction – Promote well-being – New way of communicating/making contact Introduction These days people […]
Sensor progress
A couple of weeks back I had a look with Richard at the software for reading the data from our sensor. I found it hard to make sense of the data and so did Richard 🙂 There apparently is a lot of noise from the sensor itself which obscures the results / makes them hard […]
Meeting 18/08/08 @ Danielle’s place, Breda
Present: Anja, Barbara, Danielle. From 14.00 – 21.30 (including meal and meditation) This afternoon we redid the version 3 sensor. We replaced the stiff wires by soft once in different colours. The Velcro was replaced by elastic band to make the sensor fit tighter around Danielle’s tiny fingers. We also sewed the LED and light […]
